Choose up to 3 instructors from our listings to send your request for instruction, or referral to. Submit your referral information and we will e-mail your request to the chosen instructors. We recommend selecting more than one instructor initially because some instructors may not be available at the time you request. (Other sites only allow you to request one instructor at a time, which often leads to delays and having to start the referral process all over again because of scheduling conflicts or other reasons). Instructors are allowed up to 3 days to respond to your request.
Once all of the instructors have responded, you will receive an e-mail listing them as available or unavailable. You will then choose one of the available instructors to be your private instructor. When you make your final selection, StartSwimming.com will immediately provide both you and the instructor with the other’s contact information. You may contact the instructor, or visa versa, to schedule the first session and discuss any other details. If there is any problem finding an instructor who is available, StartSwimming.com will allow you start the process over again or give you a full refund at your discretion.
Customer satisfaction is our primary concern. If at anytime you are not happy with your instructor, you may contact StartSwimming.com and we will try to provide you with an alternative instructor or offer you a full refund of your referral fee – GUARANTEED!
Yes! Many of the instructors have access to pools. On the search page, check the box “I need the Instructor to provide a pool”. This will narrow the search to only those instructors that have access to a pool.
If you have not received an e-mail response from StartSwimming.com after 3 days have passed, please Contact us. We will do our best to resolve any concerns you may have.
We ask that you respond within 48 hours of receiving the e-mail requesting you to make your final instructor selection. If you respond later than 48 hours, we cannot guarantee that your instructor will still be available.
No. You may include any number of swimmers in your request for lessons and pay for just one referral. Likewise, you only receive one 30 minute session free. After that the instructor will charge you according to the fees listed in their profile.
Your first 30 minutes of instruction with the instructor is free of charge. Instructors have agreed to offer the first 30 minutes of instruction without charge in return for the referral provided through StartSwimming.com. Students are responsible for the cost of all subsequent instruction time and are to make payments directly to that instructor.
Instructors provide a list of 8-session package rates on their profile page. Be sure to talk about using package rates with your instructor before your first paid session. Package rates can begin after your first 30 minutes of free instruction.
No! You are not obligated to continue with the instructor. You may stop lessons with the instructor at any time for any reason. If you are not happy with the instructor upon completing the 1st lesson, contact StartSwimming.com and we will be happy to give you your 2nd or 3rd choice instructor contact information or allow you to choose another instructor at no cost, or provide a full refund, GUARANTEED!
If you have continued for more than one paid session with your instructor and are dissatisfied with the instructor, please Contact Us and we will be happy address your concerns.
No problem at all! StartSwimming.com has students who are looking for instructors to come to their home, a friend or family member’s home, or even their gym for lessons. When you register, simply show that you do not have a pool and are willing to drive out to the student’s pool for lessons.
Yes! Once you have an account and have set up your profile, it is very easy to change your schedule whenever you need to make changes. Go to Availability on your Profile page and make any changes.
No. However, safety is important to us. StartSwimming.com advises our clients to request instructors to produce proof of current certification before they begin a lesson. As an instructor, safety should always be your priority, and as registered users of StartSwimming.com, instructors are required to obtain the necessary qualifications and certifications required by state and local municipalities, and to post only valid certifications in their profile. Any misconduct in this regard is a violation the terms of service and you may be removed from the site.
If an instructor does not respond within the 48 hour time frame, their account may be deactivated. This is done so we maintain our database with instructors who are available and willing to provide instruction.
If your account has been deactivated, it is likely because you have not responded to a referral e-mail. This is done to keep only active instructors on the search database. Simply login and click Inactive, at the top of your profile page to switch back to Active.
You can deactivate your account at any time for as long as you need to. Just login and click Active, at the top of any page to switch to Inactive. When you are available to teach again, click Inactive to switch it back to Active.
